Pastor Randle resigned as the Under Shepherd after twenty-three years of service. Upon his resignation a Pastor Search Committee was formed to start the search process for a new pastor. After many months of prayer and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God sent us Reverend Henry D. Lewis Jr.
Pastor Henry D. Lewis Jr.’s message to his new congregation was:
As Pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist church, I am humbled for two reasons: one, God will allow me to pastor a church with a rich and powerful history, full of faith and the Holy Spirit; two, I am humbled to pastor a church in a community where I was raised. I am a product of Acres Homes. In 1917, my great grandfather, Samuel Reed, purchased two acres of land, which our family still owns today. My family has a long history in this community, which dates back over ninety-nine years.
On July 17, 2017, I was voted in as the new pastor and began presiding August 6, 2017. I was installed as pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist church on September 10, 2017 with Reverend James C. Carrington, Jr. of Willing Workers Baptist Church presiding.
Because God is omnipotent, he can give you what you need because he loves this church family and cares about the future of this church. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) says: “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” I am a leader with a vision to see:
- Men and women saved
- Lives changed through the Word
- Church growth
- Community outreach
As Pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Pastor Lewis Jr stated, he was humbled for two reasons: one, God will allow him to pastor a church with a rich and powerful history, full of faith and the Holy Spirit; two, he was a humbled to pastor a church in a community where he was raised. He is a product of Acres Homes. In 1917, his great grandfather, Samuel Reed, purchased two acres of land, which his family still owns today. His family has a long history in this community, which dates back over ninety-nine years.
God has given the church a great responsibility for a time such as this. As we move forward, let us remember what God told Joshua in Chapter 1, Verse 9:
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Under his leadership guided by the Holy Spirit the following ministries were organized: Culinary Arts Ministry, Family Night in the Word, Seniors Ministry, Sick and Bereavement Ministry, Leadership Luncheon, Men and Women Conference, Website Committee, College Care Ministry, just to name a few.
